In Oak Ridge, North Carolina today, the weather was about 56 degree high, and 32 degree low, a little rain on a dull and cold day. Gray skies on a bleak day will not energize an individual. One has to continue however, with their planned tasks or activities for the day thus ensuring that at the end of the day it was spent productively.  We have to proceed as if the day was warm and sunny.

The beauty of the fall season is so spectacular; the leaves have all changed their colors from bright green to various shades of red, orange, gold and variations of multi colors.  Some trees have already shed all their leaves and are awaiting winter’s cold.  The fallen leaves have lined the ground like a beautiful multicolor carpet.  Those living in the rural areas can see the true beauty of nature.  Although the trees sometimes formed as a barrier, depriving neighbors from seeing each other at times, fall allows us get reacquainted.  All that was hidden in the spring and summer are now revealed and sometimes we feel deprived of our privacy.  Thus winter reveals all that was hidden in the spring and summer seasons.

Fall is also the time for homeowners, and gardeners to prepare the ground for the spring lovely blossoms and beautiful flowers, the farmers to plow the fields and scatter the good seeds on the land, or their preparation is in anticipation for the next year’s crops, for the early summer harvesting.  In addition, preparation of the roadway is now in full gear, while homeowners have to remove all the fallen leaves for the impending winter season.  If the necessary preparations are not finalized, the use of the roadways, walkways and driveways can be dangerous with the arrival of winter’s snowstorms.  Neglect of this duty, could result in the destruction of your lovely lawn, injury to our fellow mankind; blockage of the drainage systems thus causing flooding of the streets.

On a whole everyone has their various responsibilities this time of the year, and although cold, rainy and even dark clouds we have to attend to the business at hand.
