Safe Driving Tips for New Drivers
Safe Driving is neither an art, nor a science but it is just pure common sense. Now that you have obtained your driver’s license there are certain safe driving tips you should observe at all times. Repetition of these instructions will become a part of your safe driving practice. Remember safety should be your motto, and that you need to drive for yourself and the“other drivers”.
Upon entering your car which is in the park position, always check driver side floor for loose objects such as soda can, bottle, ball etc. These objects can be very dangerous when stopping is necessary. They tend to roll forward and lodge under the brake pedal and this will impede your breaking accuracy. This has happened on numerous occasions and fatality occurred.
Always remember to adjust driver seat for proper distance, making sure that you are at least 10 inches from the steering wheel, and that you fasten your seat belt. You can be ticketed by the police for driving without you seatbelt properly affixed.
Never forget to adjust your rear view and side mirrors. This action assists you in seeing what is happening behind and also beside you. After making the necessary adjustments, you can now turn your ignition on, and check your dash lights and gauges.
Before starting your engine, place your foot on the brake pedal that in the event the parking mechanism fails the vehicle will not move when started. Start the engine, and select the proper gear and signal your intension. If you have to back-up before going forward always use your emergency flasher (hazard light) to get the attention of pedestrians or oncoming traffic.
When going forward, use either your right or left turn signal to indicate your intended path of travel. Release parking brakes and move gradually forward into the flow of traffic. As was taught by your driving instructor, your hand position should be “ten o’clock” left hand and “two o’clock” right hand or “nine o’clock” left hand and “three o’clock” right. This gives proper control of the vehicle. Always observe and drive within the speed limit. Remember excess speed cause greater fuel consumption i.e. the faster you drive the more gas you consume.
Always be reminded that in some states it is illegal to use the cell phone while driving. Following these simple rules will allow you to arrive ALIVE.
I found the following video on YouTube.com entitled ” When your teen starts to drive”. This caught my attention and I hope that other viewers may also find it interesting.

Hi Mandy:
Thanks for your comments. I am new student to John Thornhill’s Master-Class and I am trying to learn as much as I can because I want to get a slice of the internet marketing pie.
Thanks again Mandy
Beverlie
Hi Beverly, I’m one of John’s new students. If only everyone on the road followed your advice, we’d have so many fewer accidents! This article was a good reminder for me of how to be safe while driving. Thanks for putting it up!
Hi Olivia:
Thanks for your comments. My husband is a Driver Education Teacher at one of our high schools, so he gives me all the tips I need in proper driving. Originally we lived in NY and driving there was like playing the Russian Roulette. Now that we live in NC, driving here is so different. The pace is much slower and driving courtesy is shown to all users of the road.
I am glad you enjoyed my post.
